Michelle is a small town Nebraska girl at heart. Born in Omaha and raised in Elkhorn, Nebraska "back when it was a small town and surrounded by corn and bean fields", Michelle learned that small town, Midwest values mean working hard, helping anyone who needed it, Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy, always doing the next right thing, and never giving up when the fights get hard.

Protected Horizon Insurance was built on something bigger than business, it was built on heart. Inspired by the love and trust of her grandparents, founder Michelle Schopen created an agency that feels like home: protective, personal, and filled with purpose.

 

From the beginning, Michelle made it her mission to show up for people, not just with quotes and policies, but with real help, honest guidance, and a listening ear. Whether it’s saving a family hundreds, scanning documents herself, or making a stressful claim easier to navigate, every interaction is rooted in care.

 

Clients aren’t just policies here, they’re people. People we protect, stand up for, and walk alongside through the unexpected. We believe in making insurance feel human, empowering, and even comforting. Because when life gets tough, you deserve someone in your corner who rises with you, every single time.

 

In addition to being the one people turn to when they need a fighter in their corner, Michelle is also a CODA (child of deaf adults) who is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and is dedicated to helping the deaf community to have as much access to understanding their insurance coverage as their hearing counterparts.
